🎯 Meaning & Significance

This traditional festival honors Cá Ông (Lord Whale or the Deity of the Southern Sea), believed by fishermen to be their guardian deity. It is held to express gratitude and to pray for calm seas, favorable weather, and safe voyages.

• Flag-raising Ceremony (Lễ thượng đại kỳ)

• Ceremonial offerings to ancestors and old seafarers (Lễ cúng tiền hiền, hậu hiền, bạn cũ lái xưa)

• Sea procession to welcome the Whale Deity (Lễ rước Nghinh Ông)

• Celebration of a successful fishing season (Lễ mừng công ngư dân Cần Giờ)
